Manage your legal matters directly from Gmail

Brightflag Connect enables users to record relevant information from emails and attachment details against their Brightflag matters without leaving Gmail.

Key capabilities:

• Matter search and selection — Find the relevant legal Matter in Brightflag by search and smart recall of the most recently accessed matter for continuity between sessions.
• Automatic document detection — Brightflag Connect identifies the open email message and any available attachments, enabling users to capture relevant information without switching applications.
• Instant synchronization — Once an email or attachment is recorded to a matter, the relevant details are visible within that matter in Brightflag, keeping matter records up to date.

How it works:

1. Open an email in Gmail and launch Brightflag Connect from the side panel.
2. Search for and select the relevant matter.
3. Select the email message, attachments, or both.
4. Save. The relevant details are recorded in the matter immediately.

Brightflag Connect requires the Advanced Matter Management module and an active Brightflag account.

Google API Services Usage Disclosure

Brightflag Connect’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. 

Brightflag Connect does not use artificial intelligence or machine learning to process Gmail data. The add-in accesses the currently open email message and its attachments only when a user actively elects to record that content to a matter. The relevant details are recorded within the platform for the purpose of updating the matter, and for no other purpose.

In accordance with Google’s API Terms of Services and Limited Use requirements, Brightflag Connect:

• Limits its use of Gmail data to providing the matter record-keeping functionality described above, which is prominent within the add-in’s user interface. No other use of this data is made.
• Does not use Gmail data to train generalized AI or machine-learning models. Transfers of data for this purpose are prohibited.
• Does not permit human review of Gmail data unless a user has explicitly consented to such and  affirmatively elected to record that specific message or attachment to a matter – and agreed to Brightflag  support. 
• Does not use or transfer Gmail data for any purpose other than to provide  the matter record-keeping functionality, and does not use such data for any advertising purposes of any kind, including retargeting or interest-based advertising.
• Transfers Gmail data only to the Brightflag platform, and only to support the functionality described above.

Brightflag’s core platform includes AI-powered features (“Brightflag AI”) that support customers in managing invoices, vendors, and legal spend. These features operate exclusively on data that customers submit directly to Brightflag and are distinct from Brightflag Connect. Brightflag Connect does not integrate with Brightflag AI or any third-party AI service.

Use of Brightflag Connect is governed by the Master Subscription Agreement between your organization and Brightflag. By using this add-in, you agree to comply with applicable laws, regulations, and the Google Terms.
